Colonel W.N. Stokes, O.B.E., D.S.O., D.A.D.O.S. participated in the discussion when the premises were being viewed.

His Excellency the G.0.C. dealt briefly with the

past history of the negotiations for the removal of the Kennedy Road Magazines and indicated how the project had broken down when finality had almost been reached and that thus the question of the necessity for the future use of the aerial Ropeway had not previously been discussed.

He pointed out that in the absence of other accommodation the Kennedy Road Magazines were essential to the Military Authorities and added that their utility was entirely dependent on the continued use of the ropeway.

The estimated cost of diversion of the ropeway to within the limits of the Army Ordnance Depot was £5,000 and he did not consider that the cost should be borne by the Army and said that unless the Government could arrange for the provision of the necessary funds, he did not see how the present position could be changed.

He pointed out that an objection to diversion was that fact that it would upset the existing working arrangement of the Army Ordnance Depot.

The representatives of the Government pointed out that in the agreement as to the surrender of the Arsenal Yard by the Navy no reference had been made to the
